We’re All in This Together: A Doula’s Perspective on Labor & Delivery Teams

Doctors, nurses, midwives, doulas, and families all have a role in a supported birth.

Birth asks a lot of a family, and no one person should be expected to carry it all alone.

A doula is there to support, not replace, the medical team. In high-pressure moments, a calm presence can help a family ask questions, stay connected to their preferences, and feel less alone.

The best care makes room for collaboration, communication, and every person working toward a healthy, supported parent and baby.
